Darrell Loree (Class Of 1972)

After graduating from Elton Collegiate, Betty Carolyn Guild went on to the University of Manitoba where she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics in 1967. She was a home economist with Federated Co-op. in Winnipeg and an information officer with the Manitoba Dept. of Agriculture before embarking on a broadcasting career with the CBC in Winnipeg, Charlottetown and then Regina where she hosted the noon hour radio show. She subsequently managed the Saskatchewan Hereford Association and later returned to journalism as a writer for the Western Producer in Saskatoon.
She was with the Producer when she was diagnosed with cancer. She moved to Gimli to be with family in 1993 and passed away there in 1994.
Betty loved travelling, including a year she spent in Australia in her 20s. She was also a gardener, baseball player and devoted football fan (Rider Pride, of course).
